Under-13s continue their winning streak with win away in Tullow

-

WICKLOW Rugby’s U13 Red Squad continued their South East campaign with another away match to Tullow RFC. Tullow fixtures have always been competitive for Wicklow who knew they could expect a tough match from the Carlow men.

On the day, Wicklow proved too strong for Tullow and finished the match 68-5.

The match itself was entertaining with both teams playing their own style of rugby.

The young Wicklow forwards set the tempo early by securing good solid position to free up the backs to run in some fine scores.

Wicklow’s expansive game proved the winning formula, moving the ball at every opportunity. Forwards and backs combined well with five different try scorers crossing the line. The try scoring was complimented by top class goal kicking by Out Half Tom Hodgkinson.

Man of the Match went to Jordan Twomey who finished off a fine team try. Wicklow now have won their three opening matches in the South East against opposition that will become more competitive as the season progresses.

Next weekend, Wicklow’s U13 Black Squad play Arklow RFC on Sunday at 10am in Ashtown Lane.
