Five-star Josh ends up on the losing side

- DIVISION 2

GLENCORMAC’S Josh O’Callaghan must have been cursing his luck on Sunday as he netted all five goals for his side but still ended up on the losing team.

Arklow Celtic edged the 11-goal thriller, with John Kearon netting a hat-trick, and Paddy Walker, Shane Walker and Mark Kearon adding a goal apiece.

James Behan went one better than O’Callaghan, as he netted six goals for Carnew AFC in their 8-1 win over Newtown United, with Jonathan Smyth and Jack Kearney getting their other goals.

Arklow United also collected three points at they saw off Greystones United 3-1, with Zach Kilbride grabbing a double and Luke Walker also hitting the back of the net.

Shamrock Celtic proved too strong for St. Fergal’s, winning 4-1 thanks to an own goal and strikes from Michael Hodgkinson, Stephen McGuinness and Eoin Hamilton.

Eugene Dunne and Mark Miley got the goals for Avonmore in their 2-0 win away to Roundwood, while Park Celtic continued their impressive form with a 6-2 win over St. Patrick’s. IT was a weekend to forget for the Garden county representatives in the LFA Junior Cup as all three suffered heavy defeats in their second round ties.

Jamie Kelly and Graham Douglas hit the back of the net for a weakened Ashford Rovers side as they suffered a 7-2 defeat to Yellowstone Celtic in Crumlin, while Wicklow Town lost 6-0 to Collinstown FC at Finlay Park.

Elsewhere, Newtown United succumbed 5-0 to East Wall Bessborough in Clontarf (see focus match).
