Autumn cup draws to a close

-

Wicklow Tennis Club recently held The Augustus Cullen Law Autumn Cup with close to 70 members taking part.

The tournament took place over three nights of round robin matches, culminating in the grand final.

Even a power outage couldn’t put a dampener on proceedings, with O’Neill Electrical quickly sorting things out so the tennis could resume.

The Group A winners were Conor Ruttledge and Liz Doyle, who defeated Tom McConnell and Nessa Byrne in the final.

Peter Hutt and Catherine Whitty were victorious in Group B, with Mark Tindale and Ruth Roberts finishing as runners up.

The Group C winners were Mick O’Byrne and Fiona Byrne, who beat Joanna Sloan Kelly and Michael Kelly.

The power outage meant the tennis finished a little later than planned, but a lovely hot super awaited all the players once the matches had finished, provided by Ray Billington of The Coffee Shop.

Club President Robert Earls welcomed Gus Cullen and Damien Conroy form Augustus Cullen Law and thanked them for their continued support in sponsoring this tournament each year.

Gus, Damien and Robert then presented the prizes to all the winners.
