Players present ‘Bookworms’

THE Village Players present ‘Bookworms’ in the Grand Hotel, Wicklow town, this evening ( Wednesday, October 26), tomorrow (Thursday, October 27), Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29.

The performanc­es take place at 8 p.m. nightly.

‘Bookworms’ is written by Bernard Farrell and directed by Daniel J Healy. In the comedy it’s Amm’s turn to host the evening and a decision has been taken to allow Husbands to be part of this ‘ last bastion of female exclusivit­y.’

The resulting clash exposes hidden lives, deceptions and indiscreti­ons. plenty of laughs guaranteed. WICKLOW’S Mountain Rescue teams were involved in their 61st call-out of the year after a woman suffered an injury while riding her bike.

The Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team were tasked at 12.10 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, to come to the aid of a female mountain biker who had fallen at Ballinasto­e Woods. While in some pain, the woman’s injuries weren’t considered too serious.

The call came from HSE National Ambulance Service (NAS) Control through An Garda Síochána.

Mountain Rescue personnel were on hand to help National Ambulance Service paramedics treat the woman for an injury to her left shoulder.

The woman was evacuated in an Mountain Rescue vehicle to a waiting ambulance.

The incident was stood down at 1.07 p.m.
