Poor start and misses prove fatal for Kiltegan

- LEINSTER JHC

box in the 23rd minute. A fearless Birmingham went for goal with such power that not a Westmeath man seen the ball go into the back of the net.

Seanie Germaine added two more points before the half-time whistle to make it 0-14 to 1-7 with Kiltegan within four points of catching the Westmeath men.

Kiltegan came out all guns blazing in the second half and due to injury two players had to be replaced and sadly it was not to be for the west Wicklow men on this occasion.

Despite the best efforts from a solid Kiltegan defence, St Oliver Plunketts added another 11 points and an unstoppable goal in the second half with Kiltegan only adding 0-1 from Mark Murphy, a free from Seanie Germaine and another superb goal from captain fantastic, Jeffrey Bermingham with the finishing score 1-25 to St Oliver Plunketts to 2-9 to Kiltegan.

The score line definitely did not reflect on this game whatsoever. Kiltegan fought with such heart and determination throughout the game but unfortunately it was not to be for the county champions today. Onwards and upwards and hopefully we will see much more from this up and coming team next season.

Subs: Cathal Fitzgerald for Liam Keogh; Christy O’Toole for Jonathan Tallon.
