Captain Christy pays tribute to a thriving club!

-

BRAY EMMETS captain Christy Moorehouse didn’t have a speech prepared for Sunday’s final replay. He was too busy getting himself prepared to claim his third Man of the Match award to be worried about writing down words to say after the final whistle.

Christy Moorehouse knows only too well that the job of hurling 60 odd minutes is the most important factor on county final day, so worrying about words was not going to encroach upon his thinking.

However, when the deed was done, the Bray captain took that microphone and lashed out a fine speech where he paid tribute to all those who work behind the scenes in Bray Emmets, to all those players who pushed the starting 15 hard and to those who made the starting 15 for the replay.

“I said I wouldn’t put pen to paper so I have nothing prepared. I want to say a great thank you to Carnew Emmets. Absolutely brilliant game the first day. They put us to the pin of our collars. Today, I felt we learned more from last week and today we just got on top. So, three cheers for Carnew.

“I would also like thank the Bray Emmets club, everyone involved, not going to name anyone, too many to name, the coaches, the lads behind the scenes, the volunteers, and obviously Brenda and her team in the kitchen.

“Look, the easiest thing to do is to stand up here and take this cup. But really the hard work was put in by the panel of players and when I say panel I mean 40 to 45 lads in the field every night. An example of that lads is look at Sean Maloney coming in today. He’s been there all year, in the gym at seven in the morning , and he did everything and he didn’t get a look in all year and here he is on county final day.

“I’d like to thank our management team. I’ll start with Olan, our strength and conditioning, absolutely brilliant, our physio had us all very well during the year, our selectors Liam Kenny and Bill Maher and, last but not least, the brains behind the operation, John Henderson,” he added, to a rapturous round of applause.
