NEWTOWN JUNIORS

-

Both our under-9s and under-10s were idle last weekend but they did have a very useful workout against each other.

There were excellent goals from among others Cathal O’Toole and Pat Carey and blinding saves from the likes of Cormac Chance and Frank Lang. Well done everyone.

Our under-8s played in a very good game away to St Anthonys and among the players who starred were Albie Chance, Lily Murphy and Lucas Dowdall.

The under-11s played out their second successive 3-3 away draw, this time away to Arklow Town. Mason Melia, Paudie Gammell and Aaron Cawley scored the Newtown goals and Hannah Martin, Iggy Szpilka and Jack Coughlan were among the players who starred.

The under-13s led Wolfe Tone 3-0 at one stage thanks to goals from Bobby Dowling, Shane Dunleavy and Ryan Clarke.

They did however relax and let Wolfe Tone back into the game where they scored two goals but Newtown held on to take all three points.

The under-15s lost 4-0 at home to Wicklow Rovers under-14s in a game where our lads played quite well in the first half (goalless) but unfortunately the second half display was simply not good enough and this resulted in this defeat.

On the day Conor Kavanagh, Sean Douglas and Ben Moran were the pick of the Newtown players.

The Development Squad is back in action and they practise every Saturday morning 10-11am outdoors on the top pitch.

Cost per player each week is €2 (€3 when we practise indoors). Some of our teams are moving indoors for training from this week and the others will all be indoors by the end of the month.

All players must wear indoor/astro runners and also must adhere to all rules governing goalpost safety etc. The following teams have confirmed their indoor training times from the week beginning Monday, October 24.

Under-9s: Thursdays from 6-7pm; Under-11s: Wednesdays from 7-8pm; Under-15s: Thursdays from 7-8pm.

Only one player celebrating a birthday in the coming week and he is Darren Fisher from the under-9s team. Happy birthday Darren from everyone at Newtown Juniors F.C.

Due to unforeseen circumstances our Last Man Standing competition has been delayed and will start up very soon.

As per norm the cost is €10 per player and the prize pot is 50 per cent of all monies taken in.

Please support as all monies raised goes towards the youth of the area. If you are interested in taking part please give your name and details to any club member.
