KNOCKANANN­A CELEBRATE! Hard work paying off as proud club reflect on super year

- DINNER DANCE

at Woodenbrid­ge THERE wasn’t a cow milked in Knockanann­a last weekend as the entire village descended on the Woodenbrid­ge Hotel to celebrate with the camogie and football club on a super year.

The camogie club, Senior champions in 2016, kicked off proceeding­s with Chairman Serge Goetolen presenting awards to player of the year Aine O’Keeffe and framed photos of the team to Jonny Wybrant, trainer, and selectors Jim O’Keeffe and Andrew Byrne.

Secretary Patricia O’Keeffe thanked everyone involved for a terrific year and presented the panel of 24 with their medals.

Paul Lancaster, Chairman of the football club, then welcomed everyone and called on the players to received their medals.

An emotional Tommy Kehoe was inducted in to the Hall of Fame and was very thankful to the club for been remembered.

May O’Neill also received an award as this is her 50th consecutiv­e year washing the club’s jerseys. Knockanann­a captain Garry Bradley presented Sue Kinsella and Trish Canna with vouchers for all their hard work providing the tea and sambos after every training session.

Damien Byrne won the Player of the Year award and Paddy O’Keeffe also received an award as he never missed one training session or match. Club treasurer Dawn Byrne, believed to be the person who keeps the show going was presented with a cake to celebrate her 40th.
