St Kevin’s CC march on to face Coláiste Bhride

St Kevin’s picked off points for the remainder of the half to lead by 3-6 to 2-3 at the interval.

Scoil Chonglais needed a good start to the second half but it was the Dunlavin school who struck early with an Aoife Grace goal. When Claire Grace added a 10th minute goal it was clear that victory was going to the visitors although Marie Kealy did send a free straight to the net at the other end.

The Baltinglas­s school failed to score in the final quarter as St Kevin’s added scores regularly despite the valiant efforts of full back Orla Hanlon. When referee Gerry Corbett blew the final whistle Dunlavin were comfortabl­e winners. As well as Wicklow minors St Kevin’s featured three members of the Kildare minor panel, Beth Doyle, Aoife Grace and Amy Horan

In the boys Senior football ‘B’ championsh­ip, Blessingto­n CC travelled to Arklow to play Glenart College in Ballymoney.

The home side led by three points at half-time but Blessingto­n took control in the second half and when referee Pat Hickey blew for full-time the score was 1-22 to 1-9 in favour of the visitors. Blessingto­n are now into the final of the Senior ‘B’ Shield.

In girls Junior football ‘B’, Coláiste Chraobh Abhann and St Mary’s College met in Kilcoole.

The teams were evenly matched and at full-time the scores were level. As it was not possible to play extra-time the sides must meet again at an Arklow venue.

The final score was Chraobh Abhann 1-6, St Mary’s 2-3. Referee was Cathy Forde.

In boys first year football, Scoil Chonglais Baltinglas­s defeated St Kevin’s CC Dunlavin by 7-7 to 5-8. They will play Coláiste Bhride on Monday.
