Busy spell for Enniskerry boxers
IT has been a busy few weeks for Enniskerry Boxing Club. On Wednesday evening, Stephen Donnelly, TD, paid a visit to the club to meet with the members as they were presented with their new logo and club t-shirts.
On Saturday night the club held its annual Christmas Show in the Rathnew House. The Enniskerry boxers took on the best from St. Joseph’s Edenderry, Arklow, Liberty, Rathnew and Mt. Tallant.
A great crowd enjoyed 22 fantastic bouts, a raffle and a night of music to celebrate another great year for the club. Head Coach Paul O’Toole presented Andy and Elizabeth of Rathnew House with a commemorative plaque in recognition of their sponsorship of the trophies on the night. Best away boxer on the night was Sophie Clancy of Edenderry and best home boxer went to Terry O’Toole in the last contest of the evening.
On December 8, Enniskerry’s Aidan Long will travel to Poland to represent Leinster and Irish international Daina Moorehouse will travel to Sweden in the new year with the girls Leinster development squad. Daina will be joined in Sweden by coaches Paul O’Toole and Eve Carr.
The club were delighted with the recent performances of their competitors in the Michael Andrews Tournament with Johnny Cawley securing gold and Seamus Maughan and Michael Moorehouse taking home silver. The younger boys will compete in this tournament in January, followed by the girls before the under-22s and nationals begin.
The club are extremely grateful to Dunnes Stores for providing two much needed fundraising opportunities bag packing over the Christmas period. The year will conclude with a Christmas Party for all members in Bray Bowl on December 14 before a well earned break for all!
