INDOOR ADVENTURE St Pat’s and St Fergal’s compete in popular event
LAST week of Indoor Hurling/ Camogie third and fourth class - This was the last week of indoor hurling and camogie blitzes.
This week the participants were St. Pat’s Wicklow and St. Fergal’s Bray.
Well done to all who participated over these past few weeks, there were great skills on show and the future of hurling and camogie look bright in Wicklow.
Thanks to Garrett Doyle for all his work making sure that this was such a success.

January Fixtures – Indoor Football - Third/fourth class indoor boys’ football -
Indoor football tournament for boys in third and fourth class. (The emphasis in this competition is on participation and sport for all, seven-a-side). Week beginning January 16, schools will be contacted with venue and time.
O’Kelly Cup - Indoor Girls Football - Indoor football tournament for girls in third and fourth class. (The emphasis in this competition is on participation and sport for all – No age limit, seven-a-side). Week beginning January 23, your school will be contacted with venue and time.
Hurling Fixtures 2017 - There will be fifth/sixth class primary schools blitz’ as follows for 2017. All blitzes are for both boys and girls, 11-a-side.
All blitzes from 11am – 12.30pm – January 25: Ballinakill COE; March 15: Ballinakill COE; April 26: Ballinakill COE; June 14: Ballinakill COE.
There will be third/fourth class primary schools blitzes as follows for 2017. All blitzes are for both boys and girls, nine-a-side.
All blitzes from 11am – 12.30pm – February 22: Ballinakill COE; April 5: Ballinakill COE; May 24: Ballinakill COE.
Please make a note of all dates and confirm with Jonathon Tallon, Wicklow Hurling GDA on 083 364 5136 at least one week prior the blitz date. A reminder will be sent before each blitz.
National Awards Information - Promotion of Gaelic Games and Culture – Schools
Category 5: 1st Prize: €700; 2nd Prize: €600; 3rd Prize: €500.
Schools are asked to show their work in promoting Gaelic Games and Culture. This can target a single area or a number of areas – including football, hurling, camogie, handball, rounders, Respect Initiative, Go Games, table quizzes, club school links, coaching initiatives.
Document outlining promotion work (one to two A4 pages - 500 words approximately); Photographic evidence.
School of the Year - The first place school in categories six and seven will be presented with awards in Croke Park.
April 2016 - Schools that promote Gaelic games in their schools are asked to submit entries to this section. Your work should show how you promote and participate in Gaelic games in your school. The work can be presented through articles /photographs and children’s work.
Each school that submits a project to this category will receive a certificate of participation.
There are two Categories as follows:
Category six - School of the Year: Schools with a roll of 150 pupils or less
Category seven - School of the Year: Schools with 151 or more pupils.
Category six and seven - First Placed Schools will be invited to Croke Park for a day where their award will be presented. Stadium and Museum Tour for 30 pupils per school. €500 to each school towards bus transport. Lunch for 30 pupils and three staff. Closing sate for all entries: Wednesday, January 11.
