Super standard of throwing at Doyle’s Rathnew

-

WHAT a night at the league double competition in Doyle’s bar, Rathnew.

There was an unbelievable standard from the outset. Robbie Kelly, Clifford Doyle, Eamon Franey and James Merrigan played exceptional darts early on the first division competition.

The first division semi-final line up was local men Trevor and Rosie Doyle taking on Robbie Kelly and Clifford Doyle.

It was a high scoring contest with Trevor and Rosie playing well as they did all night to secure the victory.

In the other semi it was Robbie Smith and Killian Heffernan taking on Martin Fortune and Totsy Werder. Clinical finishing seemed the key here with heavy scoring from both sides however it was Robbie and Killian edging a close contest.

An epic final over the best of nine legs took place on stage. It saw Robbie and Killian coming out on top by five legs to four in a terrific contest where every leg went with throw. A great effort from all the players before Smith took out the deciding double.

The second division competition moved along swiftly and a strong semi-final line up unfolded.

In the first Deano Doran and Eamon Doyle taking on Pat kearns and Cillian Downes. Impressive finishing from Eamon resulted in himself and Deano advancing to the final.

The other semi-final saw John Doyle and Eoin O’Neill just getting the better of Colm Doran and Dan Curry.

Doyle was in sensational form and scored very well to clinch it for the Jack Whites men.

The final was tight early on at one each before Doyle and Doran raced through the gears to triumph five legs to one.

The committee would like to congratulate the winners, runners up and all who took part.

A special thanks to Eamon in Doyle’s also Emma and Jacko behind the bar.

This concludes the darts until the New Year.
