Plans for 369 new homes in Rathnew
Planning decision due next month on large development at Tinakilly
PLANNING is being sought for 369 housing units in Rathnew near to Tinakilly House.
The application was lodged with Wicklow County Council by Keldrum Ltd, and a decision on whether to give the development the green light or not will be made by February 7.
The extensive housing scheme would consist of eight one-beds, 91 two-beds, 118 three-beds, 140 four-bed units and 12 five-bed units. The development will be made up of detached, semi-detached, terraced, bungalow and dormer bungalow house units.
The proposed development would also deliver the first phase of the new Rathnew Inner Relief Road, the upgrade of the Merrymeeting interchange and a new junction proposed with the avenue serving Tinakilly Country House Hotel.
Anyone wishing to make a submission has until the January 17 deadline to do so.
A PLANNING application was lodged with Wicklow County Council just before Christmas seeking permission to construct 369 housing units in Rathnew.
The proposed development would also deliver the first phase of the new Rathnew Inner Relief Road.
Keldrum Ltd want a seven-year permission to build a residential scheme with a mix of one- to three-storey units. These would include eight one-beds, 91 two-beds, 118 three-beds, 140 fourbed units and twelve five-bed units.
If it gets permission, the scheme will consist of detached, semi-detached, terraced, bungalow and dormer bungalow house units and apartment and studio apartment units broken down into medium and low density areas. The low density area will contain 217 units and the medium density area will contain 152 residential units.
A decision on the application is due on February 7, 2017, while the deadline for any submissions is January 17, 2017.
The first phase of the Rathnew Inner Relief Road will comprise a two-lane carriageway with footpaths and cycle tracks on both sides, the upgrade of the Merrymeeting interchange and a new junction proposed with the avenue serving Tinakilly Country House Hotel. Additional junctions within the site to serve the proposed development are also sought, and one additional vehicular access point along the avenue leading to Tinakilly.
All the units will have a private open space, either in the form of a rear or side garden or a balcony or terrace.
The application also looks for 670 car parking space, 44 grouped bicycle parking spaces, a public park, cycle and pedestrian paths and linkages, fitness equipment, fitness zones, adventure zones and kick-about areas, eight passive public open space areas, landscaping works, boundary treatment, bin storage facilities, pedestrian access to Tinakilly House, internal residential access roads and surface upgrade works, service and drainage connections, public lighting and all associated site development works. There are no proposed works to Tinakilly House.
