Half million Lotto win in Enniskerry

A LUCKY Lotto winenr is hoping to be lucky in love, after winning almost half a million in last week’s Lotto.

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous,is now €472,548 better off, having matched five numbers and the bonus in the draw on Wednesday, December 28. He bought his Quick Pick ticket at the Hillside Service Station last Wednesday, hours before the draw.

‘As news of the large Lotto win spread through the town on Thursday afternoon, I said I better get my ticket checked, just in case. I was in a café having my lunch and I asked the girl behind the counter to check my ticket for me. She scanned the ticket on the National Lottery app on her phone and she let out a roar. I actually thought she had a bad turn before she calmed down and told me I had a winner,’ he said.

Discussing how this massive €472,548 Lotto win would affect his life, the winner smiled, ‘I am a single man, but not for much longer!’

‘ This is an incredible, life changing amount of money to win but it will not change my personal outlook on life. I am heavily involved in charity so I will make sure this win improves the lives of many who are in need.

‘I was in work at 6 a.m. this morning so I have absolutely no plans to give up work just yet,’ he said.

This is the biggest prize to be won in this prize category since innovations were introduced to the Lotto game in September 2015. Previously, the Match 5 + Bonus prize was guaranteed at €25,000. The prize fund is now carried forward in each draw, until there is a winner, meaning the possibility of bigger prizes.
