HUNT RAISES €13,000 TO HELP MIRIAM

-

THE members of the Wicklow Hunt were overwhelmed with the support given to a charity hunt held at The Bunker Bar, Gorey, just before Christmas.

With support from across the country, they raised over €13,000 to provide assistance and supports to fellow hunt member Miriam Sheehy (29), from Barnland, Gorey, who was paralysed from the waist down in a skiing accident in February.

The event was put together by Peggy Murphy, Mark Costello, and Edwina and Sharon O’Connor. Edwina said they were ‘over the moon’ with the turnout of 150 participants.

They thanked the landowners and local community for putting in jumps, ditches and drains.

‘It was suitable for all ages,’ said Edwina. Thanks went to all who supported the auction and raffle which were held in the Bunker Bar afterwards and all who donated auction items and raffle prizes.

Miriam was overwhelmed with the support and very proud of all involved. She thanked all who organised it, and all who supported the day. THE Wicklow Community Text Alert scheme is in the process of rolling out across all the estates in Wicklow town.

Information and subscription leaflets are being delivered around the town by street co-ordinators.

If you have not received one and are interested in participating in the Wicklow Community Text Alert Scheme then can pick up a form in the Wicklow and District Credit Union or contact Treasa Earls on (087) 2998813.
