BRAY MAN IN A CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER ATTACK

-

A MAN attacked in Bray in the early hours of Sunday morning is in a critical but stable condition in Beaumont hospital, according to gardaí.

David Kirwan (28), also known as David Foley, was rushed to hospital last Sunday morning after being found injured at James Everett Park.

A man in his 20s was questioned by gardaí last Sunday afternoon and was later released without charge. The investigation is continuing and a file will be prepared for the DPP.

An advanced paramedic crew was dispatched from Loughlinstown ambulance station at around 1.45 a.m. on Sunday.

They worked on the scene to stabilise the patient prior to being transported to St Vincent’s Hospital. From there, Mr Kirwan was brought to Beaumont.

Gardaí said that he sustained his injuries after an altercation with another man. The suspect in the matter is also a resident of the Bray area.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, particularly those who were in Bray town centre and the Little Bray, Fassaroe and James Everett Park areas between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on the night in question is asked to get in touch.

Bray Garda Station can be contacted on (01) 6665300 or the garda confidential line, 1800 666 111.

David is a carer for his brother at their home in Rowan Grove. He was walking home when the incident occurred at James Everett Park. An argument between the men became physical.

The other man involved in the dispute contacted the emergency services and stayed with the victim.

Whether the victim’s injuries are a result of a direct blow or hitting his head off something as he fell is a matter for medical and forensic examination, gardaí said.

Gardaí have questioned residents of the area and searched nearby for evidence.
