Date for your diary – The Blessingto­n GAA Adult Awards Social evening will be held in Avon Ri on Friday, January 20, at 8pm. Music by Toss and Turn. The men’s awards will have Senior and Young Player of the year. The ladies will have the Senior, Young and players’ player of the year. The club person of the year will also be presented.

Wicklow Senior men – Hard luck to Wicklow who faced DIT in the O’Byrne Cup in Blessingto­n on Sunday.

Terrific game but in the end three points was the difference. Wicklow 1-07, DIT 1-10. Well done to David Boothman and Anto McLoughlin who lined out today.

Wicklow Senior Ladies – Hard luck also to the ladies who lost by four points in their first outing in the form of a challenge against Kildare in Blessingto­n on Sunday. Blessingto­n had five ladies lining out – Amy Ryan, Molly Cullen, Kim Connors, Shauna Byrne and Shona O’Connor.

Leinster GAA League Rd 1 U13 and U15– U13s will play away to Edenderry on Saturday, January 28, at 2.30pm and a BYE on February 4. U15s at home v St Peter’s, Dunboyne on Saturday, January 28, at 2.30pm, and away to Simonstown, Navan on February 4, at 2.30pm.

Permission­s – All permission forms must be in by January 30.

Lotto – No winner of the Lotto on January 10. Numbers drawn: 10, 11, 19, and 21. There were seven match three winners for €45 each - Daniel Conway c/o Anto Murphy; Michelle Fadden c/o Anto Mcloughlin; Robert Richardson c/o Tara/Dara; Debbie Hynes c/o Pat Molloy; Arthur Hennessy and Laura Kavanagh (our Strictly dancer) who won twice.

The lotto is the main fundraiser for the day to day running of the club and your support is greatly appreciate­d. Tickets can be purchased online Blessingto­n GAA website or contact Noelle McGarr on 087 7460327.

Strictly Blessingto­n Take 2 – 32 dancers will take part in Strictly Blessingto­n Take 2 on Saturday, March 18. Males – Des Nolan, John Kavanagh, Josh Gray, Mikey O’Connor, Curtis Geraghty, Hugh Magee, Steven Bohan, Eoin Phibbs, Barry Finan, Joe Hearns, Martin Shannon, Jack Gilligan, John Quinn, Nigel Charles, Dara Richardson, and Paul Graham. Ladies - Michelle Richardson, Sinead Johnston, Jenny Nolan, Emma Reid, Niamh Ellis, Rachel O’Donovan, Dolores Miley, Bernie Connell, Noreen Keegan Kavanagh, Samantha Paton, Caron Flynn, Laura Kavanagh, Kate Hennessy, Vanessa Downes, Claire Magee and Claire Earley.

The dancers now have their sponsor cards and tickets for anyone who wishes to sponsor or purchase tickets. Any funds raised will go towards the developmen­t of the club and hopefully this will include a new clubhouse in the very near future.

Well done to Michelle and Sinead who held the first of the strictly fundraiser­s on Saturday, January 14. 80 children turned up for a blitz of fun and games. Sympathies – Condolence­s to Paddy O’Connor on the passing of his brother John. John will be interred in Burgage, Blessingto­n on Monday following funeral mass in Mary Mother of Hope Church, Huntstown. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilís.
