St Pat’s form new camogie club

-

WICKLOW Camogie County Board is delighted to welcome St Pat’s of Wicklow as our newest camogie club. This brings to 15 the number of camogie clubs in the county.

St. Pat’s and the Camogie Association are running the very successful “Come Hurl with Me” programme for parents and daughters, commencing on Thursday, February 9, for six weeks in the hall, Dunbur.

This is for girls born in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Helmets and hurls will be available on the night for those who are trying camogie for the first time.

An information and registration night will take place in the St Pat’s Clubhouse on Thursday, February 2, from 7-8pm. For further details and if you would like to get involved please contact Margaret Leonard on 087 782 7881 or Jason Carey on 086 897 4898. Presentation Night The County Board is hosting a presentation night in Lawless’ Hotel, Aughrim, on February 4. At the event, we will be celebrating the achievements of the Junior team who won the Leinster Junior Championship in June 2016, beating Louth, to bring the Leinster Junior Cup back to Wicklow for the first time since 1978.

The under-16 team will be presented with runner-up medals in the All-Ireland Progress to Success Championship, when the team was pipped at the post by Tyrone in August.

And the under-14 Development Squad will be presented with under-14 Leinster Development Blitz Division 3 winners’ medals.

Chairs and Secretaries Network - And, finally, building on the success of last year’s Club Forum, the County Board has organised a Chairs and Secretaries Network meeting for Monday, February 6, in Ballinakill at 7.30pm.

This event will be facilitated by the Camogie Association and Wicklow Camogie County Board and will help club chairs and secretaries to get to know each other and to boost their skills in running their clubs before the season gets busy with matches. Clubs will be notified about this in more detail shortly.

The next County Board meeting is on February 13 and fixtures will be circulated on or before that date.
