Schools enjoy a feast of fun football around the county
THIRD and Fourth Class Boys Show How It’s Done - The third and fourth class boys in Wicklow got the new year off to a flying start with lots of great football on show at indoor venues around the county.
This was a seven-a-side indoor tournament with the emphasis on fun and participation for all. The games were fast paced and most enjoyable to watch. Some of the teams to take part were St. Cronan’s, Scoil Chualann, Gaelscoil Cill Mhantåin, St. Fergal’s, Newtown and Kilcoole.
These schools all had two teams each and the boys represented their schools impeccably showing great sportmanship. Our newly trained young whistlers took charge of the refereeing duties and did a fine job. Well done to all involved.
O’Kelly Cup - Indoor football tournament for girls in third and fourth class (The emphasis in this competition is on participation and sport for all – No age limit, sevena-side). Week beginning January 23, your school will be contacted with venue and time.
Hurling Blitz - There will be a fifth/sixth class hurling blitz next Wednesday 25th in Ballinakill COE at 11am. The day will be finished by 12.30pm. Schools may enter as many teams as they wish provided the kids are in either fifth and/or sixth class. Teams are 11-a-side.
All schools that attend must have at least one supervisor per team entered. Please be in Ballinakill at least 20 minutes before throw in (10.40am).

Camogie Blitz - There will be a camogie blitz on Wednesday, February 15. The primary focus of this blitz is participation and getting as many girls involved in playing camogie as possible, regardless of ability.
It is nine-a-side and there is no age limit. Time is 11.45am to 1.30pm approximately in Ballinakill Centre of Excellence in Rathdrum. Please let Fiona Ní Shúilleabháin, Camogie Officer know by email fiona.nishuilleabhain3@mail.dcu. ie or text 0863748903 if you can attend, and how many teams you will be bringing, by Friday, February 10, at the latest. Lots of Action in March Boys’ Football Allianz Coughlan Cup Day 1 - March 1 and 2 - Bray Emmets. 11-a-side and no age limit at 11.45 a.m. (Teams will be graded on this day.)
Girls’ Wicklow Times Shield Day 1 - March 8 at 11.45 a.m. in Bray – 9 a-side (Teams will be graded on this day.) Points only
Boys’ Football Allianz Coughlan Cup Day 2 - March 15 and 16 - Bray Emmets, 11-a-side at 11.45 a.m. (Teams will be in divisions from Day 1 and this is a competitive competition.)
Girls’ Wicklow Times Shield Day 2 – March 22 at 11.45 a.m. in Bray – nine-a-side (Teams will be in divisions from Day 1 and this is a competitive competition.)
INTO Skills Challenge - (Two pupils per school may participate in each discipline - Boys’ and Girls’ Football, Camogie and Hurling.)
Please note if a child has already played in Croke Park they cannot take part in the skills competition. Participants must be born on or after January 1, 2005.
Regional events will take place on the week of March 27 and those selected will go forward to a county selection day which will be held on the week of April 3 in Ballinakill. Hurling Fixtures Other blitzes that are coming up during the year are for both boys and girls, 11-a-side.

There will be third/fourth class primary schools blitz’ as follows for 2017. All blitz’ are for both boys and girls, nine-a-side.
