St Patrick’s finish strongly to sink Coolboy challenge

- LIAM O’LOUGHLIN

at Dunbur Park

Coolboy had three more points in the remainder of the half – a pointed free from Kevin O’Keeffe and two points in quick succession from Wayne Kinsella.

Pat’s only response in this period came with a point by Adam Cox.

The late arriving Liam Nolan had entered the fray at this stage and his presence was immediately noticeable.

However, it took a great save by goalie Damien O’Keeffe from Sean Boucher to ensure that Coolboy held the slimmest of leads by 0-6 to 0-5 at the break.

Damien O’Keeffe began the second half as he ended the first, saving brilliantly from Matt Traynor in the first minute.

St. Pat’s were now playing into the town goal and gradually got on top territorially.

Adam Cox from a free and two points from play by Jordan Pettigrew had the home side two points up after five minutes.

However a Liam Nolan goal in the tenth minute brought Coolboy back into the lead again.

Two Matt Traynor points followed by a Simon Boucher goal on thirteen minutes put Pat’s ahead again into a lead they were not to lose.

Jordan Pettigrew with a point and Adam Cox with two points had the seasiders ahead by seven points after twenty minutes.

The last ten minutes belonged to Jack Kelly, who added a further 1-2 to bring the St. Pat’s final tally to 2-15.

A goal from Dan Nolan with two minutes left was the only scoring response from Coolboy.
