Coolboy sports clubs team up for charity golf classic in Coollattin

COOLBOY Handball and GAA Clubs joined forces recently to host a fundraisin­g golf classic in Coollattin Golf Club.

The event stared off in horrible conditions but as the day progressed, the rain cleared and 70 brave individual­s took to the greens to raise funds for both clubs.

First prize in the non-golfers category went to PJ Mulhall, Declan Jordan, Adrian Power and Richard Walshe, second prize to John O’Keeffe, PJ O’Keeffe, Jimbob Rawson and John ‘Wobble’ Rawson while third prize was won by Andrew and Jennifer Kiersey and Paddy and Patricia Boyd.

First prize in the golfers category went to Jim and Podge Cullen, Shay Clinton and Mick Greene while Joe Lennon, Christy Doyle, Sean O’Brien and Brian Kenny took home second prize and third prize went to Bernard Byrne, Pat and John O’Byrne and Tony Flemming.

Nearest to Pin for Men and Women went to Shay Clinton and Jennifer Kiersey respective­ly and the Longest Drive for the Men went to Sean O’Brien.

The signed Leinster away jersey in the raffle was won by Michael Gregan Snr.

Both clubs wish to thank Coollattin Golf club for all their assistance and the use of their premises; Peter Brennan for the music on the night, all the sponsors who donated; all the players that participat­ed in less than favourable conditions; and finally everyone from the local area that supported the raffle and joined in the fun on the night.
