PAUL Sexton has been a prominent figure in the Irish gardening community for over 65 years. First setting out to work at the age of 20, Paul worked hard to build his garden centre business to become one of the top suppliers in the country.

Paul is now semi-retired and enjoying spending more time with his five children and his grandchildren and taking some well deserved time to relax.

Although he is taking a step back from work, his mark on the local and wider business community is still seen today. Paul was the first businessman in the country to provide garden supplies for sale in supermarkets. Always happy to give back to the community, Paul began a long lasting relationship with the Rehab Group in 1974 when he first provided employment to those who avail of the group’s services. The Rehab workers assisted with the prepacked roses and horticultural products which were distributed throughout major supermarket chains both nationally and internationally. This mutually beneficial relationship has continued for over 40 years and will continue long into the future. Paul has prided himself on helping those with Special needs over the last 40 years and urges people who can help to do so. Beyond our shores, Paul made a move into Irish Souvenirs which proved extremely popular and sold well in the UK, America, Canada, and even as far as the Caribbean.

You can still visit Paul’s Garden Centre at Glen of the Downs where the savvy businessman has let out plots to a variety of businesses such as Adman Steel Sheds, Brambles Loghouse, Premier Sheds, Podology and Outdoor Living.
