Coollattin House to host evening of classical music

THE members of Coollattin Golf Club are looking forward to welcoming the eminent musicians of The Ficino Ensemble for a Concert in the spectacula­r Coollattin House on Saturday, May 20 at 7.30 p.m.

The Ficino Ensemble received much publicity and acclaim for their Concert in the Chapel Royal in Dublin Castle last Easter and come to Coollattin House with a programme of the music of Weber, Haydn and Mozart.

The Programme includes the Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet by Mozart and part of the Quintet by Weber.

The other work in the programme is the String Quartet by Schubert known as ‘Death and the Maiden’ which despite its nickname is a thrilling and exciting piece of music.

The Quartet is made up of musicians of stature equal to Macdara’s, namely the Violinist Lynda O’Connor, a Wicklow native, who is making a huge reputation as a Violin Soloist having recently performed the Beethoven Violin Concerto in Dublin.

The musicians of the Ficino Ensemble are giving this concert to showcase this wonderful venue, with perfect accustic, in the hope that it will develop into one of the finest concert venues in Ireland.
