ITALY TRIP

Coláiste Eoin’s Transition Year students recently visited Northern Italy taking in Venice, Verona, Sirmione and Milan on their school tour. It was an actionpacked tour with activities to suit everyone.

On the first day the students visited the Unesco city of Verona built on the Adige River taking in Casa di Giulietta – the setting of Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, and the Roman amphitheatre.

Day two saw the students visit the beautiful city of Venice, a city built on mud and sand. The students enjoyed their time embarking on a gondola ride on the canal taking in Rialto Bridge. Students experienced the stunning architecture of the city such as the Doge’s Palace and had some chill-out time in Piazza San Marco.

The next day was filled with thrilling rollercoaster rides in Gardaland Theme Park.

The students stayed in the beautiful town of Sirmione on Lake Garda where they visited the old town on the peninsula with its narrow streets and alleys, the impressive Scaligero Castle at the entrance to the medieval town and enjoyed a thrilling boat ride on Lake Garda. In the afternoon they visited Malcesine. They took a cable car ride to Monte Baldo, 7,200 feet above sea level, experiencing the amazing landscape that can been seen from the top.

That night the group went to a match between Inter Milan and Napoli in San Siro stadium.

On the last day the students climbed the terrace of Il Duomo in Milan, followed by a meal in an authentic Italian trattoria, eating delicious pizza and pasta. Overall an enjoyable, fun, action-packed tour was had by all. MICROSOFT OFFICE EXAMS
