Wicklow Junior camogie side preparing for Leinster final
IT’S a busy week ahead with the Junior team set to line out against Offaly in the Leinster Junior Championship final.
The match will be played in St Patrick’s Park, Birr, Co Offaly, at 12 noon on Sunday, May 28.
The county team, under the stewardship of Brendan Phelan, will be seeking a back-to-back win, having secured the title last year in Aughrim against Louth.
And on Saturday, May 27, the Camogie Poc Fada will run alongside the Wicklow GAA Poc Fada on the Great Sugar Loaf, with the competition open to adult and U-16s.
Meanwhile, congratulations to Wicklow County Camogie players Laura Manley (Glenealy) and Kelly O’Neill (Donard-Glen), who were selected on the Leinster Camogie panel that played in the Interprovincial finals on Sunday, in Abbottstown Centre of Excellence, Dublin.
The Leinster team saw off the challenge of Connacht in the semi-final on a scoreline of 1-19 to 0-07 but fell to the challenge from Ulster, 3-13 to 2-07.
Also out representing the county was the U-14 Development Squad who travelled to Meath to participate in a blitz, playing against Meath, Westmeath and Kildare.
Congratulations also to Kiltegan, whose win in the U-16 League last Wednesday night saw them win the League outright. The team had an unbroken record in the League, which is a great achievement.
The first round of the U12 League kicked off last Friday night, with Eire Og Greystones v Kiltegan, Avondale v Donard-Glen, Kilcoole v Annacurra, Arklow v Carnew Emmets, Glenealy v Aughrim, and Knockananna v Avoca.
