TRAINING CENTRE TO OPEN IN MARINE HOUSE
STATE-OF-THE-ART CULINARY AND HOSPITALITY UNIT AT MARINE HOUSE
A NEW STATE- OF-THE-ART training centre for culinary, hospitality and associated skills is to open next month in Marine House at the Murrough.
Marine House has undergone an extreme and extensive makeover over the past 12 months transforming it into a hotel-standard training centre.
The training centre will be run by the Kildare and Wicklow Education Training Board.
MARINE House in Murrough is to become a Centre of Excellence for hospitality industry training as Kildare and Wicklow Education Training Board (KWETB) plan on opening its new cutting edge training facility in hospitality next month.
Marine House, which used to be home to Wicklow Bay Hostel and then Wicklow Educate Together National School, has received an extreme and extensive makeover to transform it into a hotel-standard training centre, complete with two hotel standard kitchens, a bar area, barista area, reception area, accommodation suite and customer service training area.
Marine House will specialise in the education and training of those wishing to develop skills in culinary, hospitality and associated studies such as tour guiding.
Eileen Cullen, Training Services Manager with the KWETB said: ‘Marine House has undergone an extreme and extensive makeover and is now a customised centre of excellence, which will fulfil the requirements of future clients who wish to engage in training to enter employment in the hospitality sector.’
Bars, restaurant and especially tourist hot-spots have experienced huge growth in 2015 and 2016, which has created confidence for continued growth in 2017 and as the sector grows, so does the demand for their relevant skills, which include anything from bartending to the culinary arts.
Marine House is offering clients a nine-week Introduction to Hospitality intensive training course which covers everything from food safety to customer service, giving clients an ideal way to start their journey into hospitality.
It also offers eight comprehensive courses in the fields of bar service, culinary skills, national tour guiding, food science, barista and cafe skills, a traineeship in hospitality and accommodation operations as well as housekeeping services. Virtually every corner of the industry is represented at Marine House, and their associated skills are on offer.
