Janine Davidson’s practice incorporates sculpture, installation, video, and photography. Having recently completed a fine art master’s degree, researching the archaeology of optical devices, her interests focus on visual perception, its fluidity and the construction of images. Her work references duality and contradiction and theories of binocular disparity. Layering is transposed in the work through a process of filming, projecting and re-recording. Through a process of experimentation, the filmed work is diffused and filtered. Every time film is recorded and re-recorded something is lost and something is gained and Janine’s films have the ability to capture and create alternate realities.
