Switches were key to Leinster league victory ST PATRICK’S (WICKLOW ) 3-13 BALLYBODEN ST ENDAS (DUBLIN) 2-10

-

WHAT a weekend for the St Patrick’s hurlers who became the Leinster Adult Club Hurling Division 4 champions for 2017 having got the better of Dublin’s Ballyboden/St Endas in O’Connor Park, Tullamore on Sunday.

After a poor start where the Pat’s men conceded 2-01 in the first four minutes the Wicklow town side made an excellent comeback to lead at half-time by 2-6 to 2-5.

After 20 minutes, the Pat’s management team moved Andy O’Brien to full-forward from centre-back from where he proceded to score two goals and two points while Gerry Connors shored up the full-back position when moved there to steady the team.

St Patrick’s took control right from the start of the second half with John Dee O’Brien getting the all-important third goal to set the lads on their way to victory.

With a strong second half performance, the lads finished deserving winners with solid performances from captain Eoghan O’Mahony in goals, while Shane Doyle and Dale Quinn were super in defence. Best for the forwards were Andy and George O’Brien, with excellent support from Ricki Quinn, Bonner O’Brien and George O’Conner.

Overall it was a great team effort with fantastic work rate throughout the hour from all concerned.

The full-time score read St Patrick’s 3-13, Ballyboden/St Endas 2-10 and captain Eoghan O’Mahony climbed the steps with his colleagues to collect the cup.
