More sheep with 1,620 on offer good trade for all classes with prices improved on last week by €2 to €3 per head. Strong farmer demand for ewe hoggets

Special Suckler Sale with 100 Cows met a strong trade with a full clearance.

Sheep Sale, Tuesday, May 23
1,426 Sheep on offer. Very good trade for all types with lambs up €2 to €5 per head.
Butcher Lambs €126 to €129 or €74 to €79 over €/kg
Factory Lambs €116 to €125 or €67 to €74 over €/kg
Fat Hoggets €107 to €121 or €55 to €69 over €/kg
Fat Ewes €107 to €128 per head
Feeding Ewes €70 to €103 per head
Ewe with lambs at foot €135 to €200 per Unit
Tullow
Sheep sale, Tuesday, May 23 Strong trade in Tullow for the lambs with prices improved by €3 to €4 and even €5 in some cases.
Lambs 43kg to 45kg today selling from €118 up to €124 with one exception pen 49kg making €128 and one pen 47kg making €125 while the majority continued to sell from €120 to €122. Lambs from 40kg to 43kg again meeting an improved trade here better by €3 and €4 and in some cases selling from €115 up to €121 and the majority was from €117 to €120.
Lighter store lambs on offer today 35kg to €38kg selling in the region of €83 up to €95 per head.
Cast ewes feeding ewes selling from €8 to €15 with the kg or from €75 to €94 per head.
Factory heavy ewes pushed up to a tops of €122 they being 105kg with the majority selling from €110 to €120.
Factory type hoggets selling from €110 to €118 per head on the day with some ewe hogget types suitable for breeding replacements. Suffolk types pushing from €128 to €134 with Speckles pushing up to €140 per unit.
Ewes with lambs at foot and hoggets with lambs selling from €170 to €195 on the day with 2 and 3yr old young ewes with twins at foot pushing up to €222. There was one lot of 21 2yr old ewes with 26 lambs at foot making €195 per unit.
There was a full clearance in Tullow and organisers were happy to report an improved trade in the second half of May which is most unusual for the lambs.
