CAR BOOT SALES

Car boot sales take place on the first Sunday of the month except for January with the next date being Sunday, June 4. Last month we had a huge number of stalls with everything from cream cakes, scones, bread and jam, plants, antiques, clothing, jewellery etc. Vans must be booked in. Car park spaces for the next month or so will be limited so please pre-book indoor spaces early. MARIGOLD FESTIVAL

This year’s Active Retirement Ireland (ARI) Eastern Region South Marigold Festival will take place in the Brockagh Resource Centre on Thursday, June 15 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Celebratin­g its fourth year, this one-day Health and Wellbeing event will provide a wonderful opportunit­y for small businesses to present informatio­n, services and positive lifestyle products to both ARI members and the general public. COME AND TRY DAY

Day Come along to the Brockagh Centre on Thursday, June 1, for the free Come and Try Day (11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with coffee from 10.30 a.m. and a light lunch at 1 p.m.). This will be an energetic and sociable occasion resulting in the formation of a team to represent Co. Wicklow at the Go for Life Games in DCU on Saturday, June 10 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). BASKET-MAKING WORKSHOP

This full day, traditiona­l basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environmen­t, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. on June 24, July 16 and August 8. Classes are small with five participan­ts. Garden workshop also available on request. MONTESSORI/PRESCHOOL

Tiny Feet pre-school is now open in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh. Sessional and part-time childcare places available, opening times are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mon to Friday. We offer the two years free pre-school session for children who qualify (ECCE scheme). All staff are fully qualified in our two room sessional places (Montessori and Preschool) for children aged 2.5 years to six years.

THE GIFT OF ROSE

Our dear friend Rose Brady, our sacristan, was a true inspiratio­n to us all. With her strong sense of faith, her commitment to our parish and community, her compassion, concern and kindness, she was a caring mother to every one of us. We thank God for the gift of Rose and for her time among us. We will miss her sorely but know that she will always be with us, in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.

FR CROTTY’S JUBILEE

This year, Father Crotty will celebrate the Golden Jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood. Elevation School of Performing Arts presents its 10 Year Anniversar­y show, Something Old, Something New on Saturday, June 3, at 6 p.m. in Brockagh Resource Centre.

Kate’s dance students and Kerry’s Drama students will be finishing up for the summer months on June 7 but will see you when new season starts, autumn 2017,

OLDER PEOPLES AGM

Minister Simon Harris informed the many Wicklow residents about care for the elderly, moving forward with homecare at the the Wicklow Age Friendly Strategy 2017 – 2022 which was launched at the AGM of the Co. Wicklow Older Person’s Council on May 26 in the Brockagh Resource Centre. Thank you to Brendan Martin, Crime Prevention Officer and County Librarian and John Gill for their very informativ­e talks. In the afternoon, after a light lunch, feet got tapping to lively music by Liam Garret.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

McGrath-Flood School of Irish Dancing Coming to Brockagh Centre/Laragh.

Irish Dancing is to start on Saturday, September 16, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Classes cater for any age over three years and all levels including absolute beginners. FITNESS DANCE

Just pop in on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre to dance your socks off with Adam and the class in cardio exercise dancing, dropping those extra calories. WALKING GROUP

On Monday mornings weekly at 10 a.m. join the walking group with Get Ireland Walking at the Brockagh Resource Centre for a walk around Glendaloug­h area for approximat­ely one hour. In associatio­n with Get Ireland Walking, Wicklow Local Sports Partnershi­p and Brockagh Resource Centre. All ages and abilities are welcome. TIDY TOWNS

We have now had a map of the area prepared and ask all residents to adopt a stretch of road around their premises and keep it clean and tidy. The maps are currently displayed in McCoy’s shop and the Brockagh Centre. Please sign your name in the area you plan to keep clean and tidy. Thanks to all who turned up on May 2 nd to help clean-up the village. The next clean-up will be on six th June at 7.30 p.m. Meet opposite Lynhams.

MOBILE LIBRARY

The mobile library visits Lynhams car park every second Thursday from midday to 12.50 p.m. The next visits will take place on June 8 and June 22.
