Kilmacanogue
GAA DINNER DANCE
It is now 20 years since the Kilmacanogue men’s team won the Junior A championship in 1997 and the clubs ladies’ team won their league. Only last year, the intermediate team won the Division 2 league title.
Well the club celebrated those three fantastic victories in style with a dinner dance in the Parkview Hotel last Saturday which was a huge success and as always, well supported. A massive thank you must go to the Parkview Hotel for their wonderful meal and hospitality on the night.
All money raised on the night goes towards the biggest development project to take place in Kilmacanogue in generations with the clubs new Clubhouse progressing rapidly. Thank you everyone.
PRINCIPAL’S RETIREMENT
We all know of the great service Geraldine Kelly has given Kilmacanogue National School both as a teacher and then Principal. Well Geraldine has reached retirement age and will step down as Principal during the school holidays in August. To mark the occasion, the School parents’ association would like to invite all past parents and pupils to a reception which will take plaqqce in three weeks’ time in Kilmacanogue National School on Thursday, June 29, at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome so please put the date in your Diary.
CFR TABLE QUIZ
Our local Kilmacanogue Cardiac First Responders (KCFR) held their annual public access defibrillator (PAD) fundraising Fun Quiz in Pluck’s last Tuesday and yet again, great support was received from the local community.
The nights entertainment started with a Novel Fun Quiz with a wide selection of videos, questions on Sport, family fortunes, and a what happens next sections which proved very popular indeed.
Over the course of the evening an auction was held with a wide range of items put under the hammer followed by a Monster raffle.
KCFR would like to say thanks very much to their supporters and sponsors (too many to mention) for really getting behind the event which guarantees another PAD for the community and also helps to promote the chain of survival.
A special thanks to Helen, Nick and Dave from Plucks, Avoca Handweavers, Auctioneer Gabriel Dooley and also the Quizmaster himself, ‘Winker’ assisted by Ray and Trish. Co-ordinator John ‘Hoppo’ Hopkins stated ‘It was nice to see Christy Devlin and his family capturing first prize with Mark Quinn’s team runners-up, both teams have been great supporters of KCFR from day one’.
