-

THE TALENTED students of Dramtech Performing Arts School in Bray are set to perform show-stopping numbers in their adapted version of Ronald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as they take to the stage for ‘Welcome to the Chocolate Factory.’

The production will take place on Sunday, June 25, at Mermaid Arts Centre starting at 3 p.m. and a full house of all ages is expected for this one-time-only production.

This will be the fourth annual production from the students, who range in ages from two to 12 years, and will be a colourful, musical production with some songs from the original movie along with popular chart tunes.

‘We are a community-based drama group and we are all excited about our fourth production,’ said Tanya Shortt, who runs the performing arts school with her mum Georgina. Tanya studied dance at Bray Institute of Further Education and set up the performing arts school just over four years ago.

‘We are currently at rehearsals stage and it is all coming together for Sunday, June 25,’ she said.

The students have previously taken part in ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ ‘Aladdin’ and ‘Peter Pan’ which all went down a treat with the audiences over the past number of years.

‘This production of “Welcome to the Chocolate Factory” is our own take on the original story and movie. We have Darina Kennedy making all of our costumes and we build and paint our own sets,’ she said.

‘Welcome to the Chocolate Factory’ will commence at 3 p.m. and will run for an hour and a half, including the intermission.

Tickets are priced at €15/€12 concession and are available from Mermaid Arts Centre, Main Street in Bray.
