Knockananna had an excellent win over Newcastle in the league Last Wednesday in Knockananna.

With several players out through injury we had just a panel of 16 to choose from which made the victory even more impressive.

Newcastle were reduced to 114 men after 15 minutes and this aided our cause. Keith Corrigan got on the end of great ball from Lorcan Tyrrell to drill the ball to the net leaving the score 1-05 to two points at half-time. The second half Knockananna were in control for the most part and added another eight points to the score line.

Well done to Dylan Tracey who came on in the second half and immediately got stuck into the game dispossessing the Newcastle backs on four occasions resulting in two points .

The championship starts July 8 in Arklow against Kilcoole.

Congratulations and commiserations to Knockananna Féile girls . They reached the Féile final in Kilkenny but lost to Windgap. Really and truly it was a case of boxing above their weight as the majority of the team are 12 years of age while all their opponents were bigger stronger and older.

Well done to Tom Byrne and Lisa Mc Donald and everyone associated with these terrific bunch of girls. The defeat didn’t dampen their spirits as they sang and danced well into the night in Knockananna.

Unfortunately they couldn’t defeat the cursed midgets who halted proceedings with a vicious assault about 11pm.
