Tom Kennedy memorial show to be held in Ashford

-

PLANS are well in advance now for The Tom Kennedy Memorial Vintage Show which will take place on Sunday, July 9, in Eugene Stevens Field ‘The Sand Pit’ in Ashford.

Starting at noon, the show is open to cars, trucks, bikes and indeed anything with an engine.

The annual show has gone from strength to strength since its inauguration a number of years ago by the late Tom Kennedy, who at the time was attending St Ann’s Oncology Ward in St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin. Tom was eager to give some support back to the ward for the wonderful care he was receiving.

On his sad passing, The Garden of Ireland Vintage Car Club decided to keep the show going in his memory, and, to date, it has raised in excess of €10,000 for this very worthy cause.

The show will take on a new look this year with many additions such as farm machinery, artisan stalls, side shows and more.

The Tom Kennedy Memorial Trophy will also be presented for the Vehicle of the Show.

The well-known Matt Duffy will present his wonderful dog show which he travels all over the country with, so those attending are welcome to bring along their dogs as there will be eight categories to choose from.

The club would welcome any auto jumblers, car memorabilia stalls or any others wishing to take part on the day. All classic and vintage vehicles and their owners are invited along to meet like minded enthusiasts at a relaxing afternoon.

The club would like to thank Eugene and Margaret Stephens for the continued use of their field which is very much appreciated. For further information contact Eileen on 087 8329235 or kenne1@eircom.net.
