Adele’s book deal a dream come true

- BY DEBORAH COLEMAN

AN Arklow author is just days away from launching her first book after she secured a three-book deal with Head of Zeus publishing company.

Adele O’Neill, who might be known to many as the owner of the former Little Angels montessori school, decided to change direction and follow her dream of becoming a full-time writer in 2012.

‘I always wanted to write and I always loved reading and in 2007 I started writing here and there. I closed the school in 2012 with the intention of writing full-time. I entered a few competitions and got critiques back which was helpful,’ Adele explained.

Once her novel was finished after 18 months in the writing stages, Adele set about finding a literary agent so that she could try and find a suitable publisher.

‘I sent the book out to a good few agents and in the end I signed up with Trace Literary Agency. It’s very difficult to get an agency to take you on so I was delighted,’ Adele said.

The publisher then wasn’t long in agreeing to publish Adele’s first book and offered her a deal to write a further two.

Adele says that since her children Alannah and Ava have grown older and with the support of her husband Alan, forging out a career as a published author has been a dream come true.

‘My family are fantastic and it wouldn’t be possible without them and their support,’ she says.

The book is entitled ‘Brothers and Sisters’ is a gripping, highly emotive story of love, survival, dark family secrets and sibling loyalty. It has already attracted rave reviews from Dorothy Koomson and Martina Cole fans.

A perfect read for fans of the thriller and mystery genres, the book will be launched in Arklow Golf Club by special guest author Carmel Harrington on Friday, July 14, but will be on sale from Saturday, July 1 on Amazon and in local bookshops.
