WIT award for student Robert
A PAST PUPIL of Coláiste
Bhríde, Carnew, received the
Dairymaster Student Award at the Dairymaster Student
Award at Waterford Institute of Technology’s Department of
Science Student Awards Ceremony recently.
Arklow resident Robert Tobin was the recipient of one of six awards presented at the event spanning the sciences from
Pharmaceutical, Food, Forestry and Agricultural Science.
Robert is the son of Elaine and Paul and brother Liam and Sid.
Eleanor Kent, Assistant Head of Department of Science said that the awards have been organised as a result of collaboration between academic staff and industry partners.
‘The sponsors this year are Sanofi, Society of Irish Foresters, Dawn Meats, Comeragh Veterinary Surgeons, Dairymaster and AIB. The awards celebrate the diverse talent of the students and offer an opportunity to gain recognition and reward for their work. The overall winners are decided by the sponsor and academic staff,’ she said.
Currently living in Waterford city for his studies, Robert said, ‘Upon graduation from WIT I aim to become a partner in my home farm, expand it along with my parents and convert it from a beef and sheep enterprise to dairy using the knowledge, skills and experience I have attained through studying in WIT.’
