Bray Emmets senior ladies got their first win of the championship campaign with a hard fought win againts Clara.

Conceding two early goals led the girls to move up in the gears and really start playing.

With a final score of 2-17 to 2-3 both management and players were delighted to get the first win of the campaign.

A special mention to the younger players who are coming up from Minor who are making a real impression to the squad. Next championship match is the 13th of July vs Blessington away. Onwards and upwards!

Senior men’s football - Hard luck to the Senior men who went down fighting to Tinahely in the first round of the championship.

Under-15 Hurling - Bray Emmets 7-9, St Vincent’s 2-7 - The under-15 hurlers continued their good run in the league with a solid win against St Vincent’s B on a cool Friday evening in Old Conna.

Once again, this team’s ability to score goals proved decisive against a very competitive St Vincent’s B side.

Peter and Sam started strongly at midfield and early dominance saw Ben and Sam take some good scores from play, and with Ben and Rory adding goals Bray seemed in control.

Vincent’s stuck to the task and scored two goals and two points of their own in quick succession.

Sam’s clever play saw him score two further goals to keep Bray in front and the teams went into the break with Bray leading on a scoreline of 4-4 to 2-2.

St Vincent’s closed the gap with some good point scoring after half time, but excellent team play by Emmets resulted in a steady stream of scores.

Rory got two more goals, Sam another goal and a point and Brian added a number of fine points from play. There were very good performances all over the pitch.

Special mention to Jack at corner back, Adam at centre back, Rian who put in a very strong display on a tough opponent, Peter who was tireless throughout and Sam, Rory and Ben who made very important plays at crucial times.

Team: Fionn, Daniel M, Aaron, Jack, Tadhg Mac, Adam, Eoin, Peter, Sam, Rian, Rory, Ben, Conor.

Senior hurling championship round 2 against Carnew - All roads led to Aughrim to face Carnew, the team that beat us at this stage last year, and with a slight change in the weather, from Tuesday night against Greystones, we knew another good competitive game was in store.

We settled into this game very well with points from Padge Doyle and a side line cut by Diarmuid Mastrson, Carnew hit back with three points on the trot before Mark Lennon fired over a lovely long-range point.

We were playing some lovely hurling at this stage with Peter Kiely and Eoin McCormack using some great spatial awareness and setting up a number of direct attacks carving apart the Carnew defence, and so it lead to Tom Cash’s first goal which he executed brilliantly to the top corner of Michael Collins goal after a superb run through the middle by Padge Doyle who laid it off.

Masterson added another long-ranger from a free and we were looking comfortable enough.

Then against the run of play a long ball was sent in to the Bray goal, which came back off the post and Wayne Kinsella netted to keep the men from the Wexford border in the game.

With half time looming we put another great patch of hurling together, Ciano and McNally linking up to set Tom in for his second goal which he dispatched in fine style, 2-4 to 1-3 at the break after playing against a strong breeze.

Tommy ordered the boys into the dressing room and with a relative amount of calm he went around the room issuing great encouragement to all the young men who had just left every ounce of energy out on the field and that hard work always pays off.

Liam Benville, Conor Doherty, Conor McNally, Ben McCormack, Darragh Moloney and two goal hero Tom Cash, hounded and harried every ball. Eoin Mason was coolness personified in goal and set up several attacks with his accurate puck outs.

The second half saw us resume control of this game, with Padge Doyle, Diarmuid, Tom and Benville all firing over points and Carnew not really showing their usual fighting spirit, we were well on the way to our second win.

When Padge blazed our third goal past Collins in the Carnew goal, it was game set and match, Cian O Byrne who worked hard throughout the game received a second yellow in what seemed to be very harsh decision, none the less, there is no doubt Carnew will have a lot more to say in this championship but at this stage of affairs Bray are a bit ahead of them.

Willie Keane and Paddy Lee came on for Lennon who was immense throughout the game and Conor McNally who also put in a good shift. Karl Lacey, Peter Walsh, did everything asked of them, and Peter Kieley outstanding at centre back, the final whistle sounded with the score line 3-13 to 1-06, two from two but we won’t get carried away, still a lot of hard work to be done.

We need to get the support going again, so a few upcoming fixtures for you, intermediate hurling championship next, 9th July v Glenealy 7.30 also in Aughrim.

Then next senior game 11th July 7.30 v Glenealy also in Aughrim and Kiltegan 18th July 7.45 again in Aughrim.

Many thanks to all who helped out, much appreciated, training Tuesday 7.15.
