WICKLOW ROVERS

-

Our senior ladies team took on C.M.H. FC in the first round of the DWSL Junior Cup and after losing 5-3 to the same opponents two weeks a go the girls were looking to turn the tables this time around.

That they did and in a ruthless fashion, blasting the Dundrum outfit out of the cup on a 10-3 scoreline.

Niamh O’Brien led the way with a clinical display in front of goal with an individual haul of five goals.

Rachel Bolger and Natasha Fitzgerald weighed in with a brace a piece with Deirbhle Geraghty adding a single to complete the ten goal tally.

Every player on the pitch played their part in an all round good team performance.

A special mention goes to Nicole Hubbard who was outstanding on the night to claim the girl of the match accolade, Nicole was excellent through out, tenacious in the tackle, supported her midfield and the attack, an overall excellent performance.

The under-17s lost out in an eleven goal thriller against Sacred Heart losing 6-5.

The lads took awhile to get going in the game but it was a match they were always chasing.

Every time they closed the gap they conceded a soft goal and then in the last minute they had a great chance to level but it wasn’t to be.

They definitely kept the watching public entertained. The goalscorers on the day were Eli Graham, Dean Noble, Luca Rampersaud, Jack Manley and Stephen Finlay.
