Over €120,000 allocated to ‘Creative Corridor’ participan­ts

OVER €120,000 has been awarded by the Local Enterprise Offices to participan­ts of the South Eastern Creative Corridor (SECC) initiative.

The announceme­nt was made at a bootcamp event held in Carlow last week.

The SECC is led by Wicklow Local Enterprise Office and offers 70 participan­ts from across the region a year of supports, including business developmen­t and mentoring.

In addition, participan­ts had the opportunit­y to compete for business investment and it is envisaged that 86 new jobs will be created as a direct result.

‘It will help improve the quality of the work that I can do and immediatel­y expand opportunit­ies to internatio­nal clients,’ said participan­t Caoimhe Doyle. ‘It will also help provide specialise­d training opportunit­ies to more Irish people.’

‘Content creation industries are at the cutting edge of the 21st century, undergoing considerab­le change, especially as a result of increased digital technologi­es worldwide,’ said Sheelagh Daly, Head of Enterprise of the Lead Partner, LEO Wicklow. ‘The Creative Corridor is a powerful initiative to build capacity within regional businesses and to facilitate the developmen­t of a regional cluster in this sector. This funding will lead to significan­t job creation and to increased viability and scaling of the businesses.”’

The innovative boot-camp event in Carlow saw 75 participan­ts travel from all over the southeast to hear renowned thought leaders share the latest trade knowledge fresh from internatio­nal film festivals.

Ann Mulroney, CEO Visual Carlow welcomed participan­ts. Prominent creative industry guest speakers included Paul Young - CEO Cartoon Saloon, Jane Kelly – Big Mountain Production­s and Larry Bass, Shinawil Ltd.
