Maurice’s rental company ‘Fleet’ forms partnership with AXA

-

A NEW technology startup company founded by a Wicklow entrepreneur has announced a partnership with global insurance giant AXA.

Founded by Maurice Sheehy ‘Fleet’, the first peer to peer car rental service in the island of Ireland, has formed a strategic partnership with AXA who will underwrite all business transactions for the company in Ireland.

AXA will offer cover for ‘Fleet’ car rentals in Ireland ensuring that, vehicles, renters and rentees are fully covered and protected. This insurance cover will supercede the personal cover of the car owner should anything happen during the rental period.

The service will enable to offer car owners the potential to earn money from leasing out their vehicles similar to the Airbnb model.

With an industry average car rental of €84 per day ‘Fleet’ estimate their average could be as low as €50 per day though this will vary as people renting out their cars will be able to fix their own prices due to car specifications and age. If someone rents out their car just once a week then that may give them a potential windfall of at least €2,500 per year with the technology suiting both urban and rural owners.

‘Fleet’ founder Maurice Sheehy said ‘The announcement of this partnership with AXA is the final link in the chain needed for us to commence our business here and in Northern Ireland. This will enable people in every street and village to join our portal and also open up the country to tourists with cheaper car hire. AXA will be working with us as our trusted insurance partner with this new peer to peer business model which will benefit the economy and revolutionise the way people use car transportation. Tourists who rely on public transport can now hire a car in remote rural towns and villages and literally take it from there, via ‘Fleet’ to travel down any boreen they wish!’

Over 12,000 users have signed up to the service to date and the ‘Fleet’ app is available for download worldwide on both iOS and Android platforms.
