Dazzling array of entertainment and fun for all the family
THIS year’s Seabreeze Festival is just days away and Arklow is in for a treat. The annual event will culminate in three days of great family entertainment throughout the town centre from Friday, July 14 to Sunday 16. This year’s committee is as follows: Colm Moules – Chairman, Mary Burke – Secretary, Treasurer – Tina O’Sullivan, PRO – Colm Moules, Safety Officer –Vinny Byrne, Committee; Tommy Annesley, Dicey Reilly, Sharon Whelan, Jim Hoey, Donal Molloy, Noeleen Davenport, Therese Kelly and they have been hard at work to bring together an event with something for everyone.
The organisers have pulled out all the stops to make Seabreeze Festival 2017 a real family friendly event with entertainment and attractions for young and old.
The Swinging Pubs contest has been underway for the past week and will conclude on Thursday, July
13 in The Bridge
Hotel where the finalists from each round of the competition will face off to win the
2017 title.
Festival weekend will open on
Friday evening with an array of fun events, a highlight of which is always the Trade Winds Burger-Eating competition.
There will also be a demonstration from the Arklow Community First Responders as well as a Battle of the Giant Games in the park. Live music will be offered by Bare Bones, rock and blues band. Saturday will see festival fever continue with events including the ABG Festival of Football, the European Marching Bands and Drum Corps Competition in Arklow Celtic grounds, Dainty Bakery Baby Show, Busking Competition, Drum Corps Rock the Town, The Great Pint Challenge and live music from The Kilkennys, Ray Dolan and Small Town Crisis.
On Sunday don’t miss the popular Pig Derby, WWF Wrestling, McDonald’s Teddy Bear Picnic, Midway Chilli Madness, Car Push and Musical Chairs as well as evening entertainment from Wise Guys, Gravity and Glen Art.
There will also be the ever-popular Fireworks display to close the festival on Sunday evening.
The 2017 Seabreeze Princess Ellen Doyle will be present at many of the events as well as Mr Seabreeze Owen Donegan.
