MIGHTY WINGS FOOD FEST Bray Seafront From 10 a.m.

The mightiest, hottest, finger-lickin’ chicken wings on the east coast return at this two-day food festival in Bray. There will be four pop-up wings shops, a barbecue pit area and the WingARoo ‘Spin a Wing’ wheel, along with a street food an craft market, street theatre and live music.

CARNEW AND DISTRICT AGRICULTUR­AL SHOW Umrigar, Carnew From 11 a.m.

The Carnew show is back with the cream of the crop across a number of competitio­ns. As usual, there will be a range of classes for livestock, poultry, horses and ponies, fantastic entries in baking, crafts, art, photograph­y and flower competitio­ns, and an explosion of talent on display across all the junior sections. The showground­s will also be packed full of all the usual attraction­s, including the dog show. Admission: €5 for adults, children go free.

SUMMER FUN DAY Dr Ryan’s Community Centre, Greystones Noon to 3 p.m.

Bring all the family along to this summer fun day featuring a range of activities, including bouncy castle, hook a duck, face painting and the challenge of guessing how many sweets are in the jar.

FAMILY FUN DAY Poulaphouc­a House, Blessingto­n From 2 p.m.

An action packed family day out to raise funds for a new rescue boat for the Blessingto­n lakes. There will be Ireland’s biggest slide, a fun fair, bungee trampoline, live bands and games for children. Separately, a night of music will get under way from 8 p.m. Family tickets cost €20 while all-day tickets or evening tickets are also €20.

CARNEW SHOW AFTER PARTY Umrigar, Carnew 7 p.m.

With a barbecue and live entertainm­ent, this fundraiser in the marquee for the Carnew and District Annual Show is the perfect way to unwind after the hustle and bustle of show day. Admission: €10.

THE WRITING LIFE: CARLO GEBLER The Mermaid Arts Centre 8 p.m.

The first of a new series of interviews with writers begins with Wicklow native Carlow Gebler, who spent his early years in a house overlookin­g Lough Dan, in conversati­on with local writer Philip St John. During the interview, Gebler will explore the impact of place on his vision, the advantages and disadvanta­ges of having two renowned writers for parents, and how he has produced over the last 35 years one of the most impressive, maverick and wide-ranging bodies of work in Irish literature.
