SOCCER NOTES

A friendly game against TEK kicks off a busy Weekend for Enniskerry YC soccer club, followed by awards night at a function in Powerscour­t Arms Hotel. The game is at 3 p.m.

WALKERS

August 1 takes the Enniskerry walkers to Prince Williams seat, leaving from Curtlestow­n. On August 8 the Walkers will leave from Windsors Spar driving to Bray and taking the Cliff Walk then returning back by the Dart.

DARTS

Joe Walsh made his long awaited return to the Powerscour­t Arms Darts team with a very good display of pitching, resulting in a 5-3 win over Eagle House from Dundrum. Next week will bring the season to an end.

CAR BOOT SALE

There will be another car boot sale on 29th in car park opposite St Patrick’s School at Powerscour­t.

LADIES SOCCER

Enniskerry Ladies Soccer team take on Terenure B team tonight in Berry field in the quarter final of the DWSl at 7.30 p.m.

POWERSCOUR­T/KILBRIDE

Services of Worship in Powerscour­t for Sunday, July 30 – Trinity 7: 8.30 a.m. – Holy Communion One (Said); 11.30 a.m. – Morning Prayer One.

Daily Prayer and Open Church, midday and 5 p.m. each day: Powerscour­t Church has re-opened for daily prayer. This year there will be two times of prayer, midday and 5 p.m. with the church being open between those times for quiet space and personal prayer.

Car boot sales in aid of Powerscour­t Parish Funds – This Saturday: These take on the last Saturday of the month in Powerscour­t Church – Paddock, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The July one takes place this Saturday. For further details, contact Robert Allison at 086 3835151.

Sacrament of Reconcilia­tion – (Confession­s): Our Lady Queen of Peace, Putland Road, Bray – Saturday after 10.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. Masses; Church of the Most Holy Redeemer, Main Street, Bray – Saturday after 10 a.m. Mass.

The Rosary: The Rosary is recited each morning (before Mass and Prayer Services) at 10 a.m.

Baptisms: Baptisms are now held on the second Saturday of the month in St Mary’s Church, Enniskerry, for parishione­rs only. Please arrange with parish office. Parishione­rs are asked to please give two weeks notice if you wish to book a baptism.

Curtlestow­n Cemetery Clean Up: Continues tonight (Wednesday) at 7 p.m. Please bring strimmers and rakes. We would appreciate more help to ease the work on our regular volunteers who are doing great work. Tea served at 8.30 p.m.

Annual Blessing of Graves: Kilmacanog­ue on Sunday, August 20, at 3 p.m.; Curtlestow­n on Sunday, August 27, at 3 p.m.

Used Postage Stamps Needed: Barnardos Children’s Charity is looking for used stamps. The money raised through the sale of these stamps will go directly towards their work with vulnerable children here in Ireland. If you would like to leave your used stamps in an envelope in the basket at the back of the church we will forward them to Barnardos at regular intervals.

Monthly Rosary Group: Meets on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Prayer room in St Mary’s Church. Next meeting is on Monday, August 7, Legion of Mary – Kilmacanog­ue Presidium: Meet at 11.30 a.m. every Tuesday in the Sacristy of St Mochonog’s. New members are most welcome. The Enniskerry History Society is on summer Recess till meetings resume in the autumn. Members and supporters of the Enniskerry History Society are asked to note that the Rathmichae­l Historical Society’s 43rd summer series of Evening Lectures will take place in Rathmichae­l School, Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill, Co. Dublin (Junction of Dublin Road and Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill) from Monday, August 14, to Friday, August 18, nightly at 8 p.m. – the Leo Swan Memorial Lecture will take place on Wednesday, August 16,

GOLF CLASSIC

The friends of Ben Melia in conjunctio­n with Enniskerry YC AFC are holding a golf classic in Powerscour­t Golf Club on Sunday, September 3, The format will be a team of four (any combinatio­n). The cost is €280 per team including dinner.

VICTORIAN FESTIVAL

The Enniskerry Victorian Festival takes place on Sunday, September 10, in Fenelon’s Field, Monastery. Events include Steam Threshing, Artisan Markets, Classic Car Show and Vintage Display, Dog Show, Falconry, arts and crafts, Traditiona­l Games. For further details see – enniskerry­festival.ie.

All are welcome to come along to the parent and toddler group at the Community Centre from 10.30 p.m. to midday every Wednesday. €2 per child.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

The centre is available for bookings (e.g. classes, meetings, birthday parties). Bookings can be made via email kilcoolecc@gmail.com or by phone 01 2872017. The office is open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3.15 p.m. and is closed for lunch between 12.30 p.m and 1.15 p.m.

Bingo is held on Monday nights in St Patrick’s Hall at 8 p.m. Everybody is welcome.
