Blessington to host special Potter quiz

Those who know their ‘accio’ and ‘acromantula’ from their ‘knut’ and ‘kneazle’ will be jumping on the Hogwarts Express and heading straight for a special quiz in west Wicklow this week.

The Harry Potter Trivia Tournament presents a challenge of champions where the muggles are separated from the witches and wizards to see who is most knowledgeable about the secret, magical world of Harry Potter.

The event, a celebration to mark 20 years of Harry Potter magic, takes place at 1 p.m. this Monday, July 31, in the Hippodrome at Russborough House and is being hosted by the Blessington Book Store and Russborough House and Parklands. Teams of four will compete for prizes of special Harry Potter editions and merchandise from Bloomsbury Publishing.

The quiz will be followed by a special display from the National Bird of Prey Centre and afterwards,everyone will be welcome to meet the birds, who will have their feathers preened and ready for plenty of selfies.

The quiz will be an all-Ireland affair as the Blessington Book Store has been selected by Bloomsbury Publishing as the only shop in Ireland (and one of only 20 bookshops in total) to host the Harry Potter Trivia Tournament.

Teams arriving in wizarding robes or their best Potter-themed costume can earn bonus points.

Tickets are €40 for a table of four to enter the trivia tournament and enjoy the Birds of Prey display. Entry to the car park at Russborough costs €2.
