GARDEN SHOW

Russboroug­h House 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. With a top line-up of speakers and flower arranging demonstrat­ions, along with a marketplac­e and retail courtyard packed with specialist plants, tools, books, garden furniture, barbecues, clothing and other garden essentials, this garden show promises to have something to picque the interest of the garden expert and amateur alike. There will also be a number of family activities for budding gardeners in the walled garden. Admission: €8 for adults (€6 for RHSI members), children free.

CARTOON FESTIVAL

Market Square, Rathdrum Noon to 10 p.m. The first full day of events of the revived Internatio­nal Cartoon Festival includes the official opening of the festival at noon, the Burlesque Baker kids baking demonstrat­ion at 12.30 p.m., facepainti­ng from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the bar staff race at 4.30 p.m., the glamorous granny competitio­n at 7 p.m. and prom night from 8 p.m. There will also be plenty of music throughout the day.

TERRY WILLERS EXHIBITION

Upstairs at Centra, Rathdrum Noon to 6 p.m. The ‘Rememberin­g Terry Willers’ exhibition is one of the must-see events at the Internatio­nal Cartoon Festival. It promises to be very entertaini­ng and might even rekindle old memories of political dramas and cultural events covered by Terry in his unique way over his 60-year-plus career.

LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL

Mermaid Arts Centre 8 p.m. The senior performers from Sheevawn Musical Youth Group are bringing this much-loved movie to the stage. Tickets, priced at €20, are available from mermaidart­scentre. ie or by calling 01 2724030.

BARN DANCE

Moneystown Community Centre 8.30 p.m. Don your cowboy boots and stetsons and head over to the fundraisin­g barn dance and barbecue in aid of the community centre.There will be music by the Three Bobs and Roamin Cadillacs and then a disco afterwards. Admission: €20.

SINGING PUBS

Rathnew House, Rathnew 9.30 p.m. Come and enjoy the best local talent as part of the Wicklow Regatta Fetival Singing Pubs competitio­n.
