CAR BOOT

Shoppers will find home-baking and plenty of bargains at our next car boot sale on Sunday, three rd September. You can find anything from cream cakes, scones, bread and jam to plants, antiques, clothing and jewellery. Please pre-book indoor spaces early. Vans must be booked in. RUN THE RIDGE

On October 14 you will have a chance to run the majestic Derrybawn Ridge while supporting local sports teams Glendaloug­h AC and Laragh GFC. The race begins in the scenic grounds of Laragh GFC before taking runners on a 20km adventure on the local trails and hills. A shorter 8km option is also available. The courses are fully marked, and a mighty spread of cakes and tea will be on offer for the post-race celebratio­ns. For full details and bookings please go to runtheridg­e.ie.

WILDLIFE TRUST TALK

On September 14, Laragh Tidy Towns will host an evening with Pádraic Fogarty of the Irish Wildlife Trust. Pádraic will talk about his landmark book, Whittled Away. The book charts the grim decline of nature in the Irish landscape but also reveals possibilit­ies for the future, showing a path to recovery for nature and wildlife. The talk, followed by discussion, will take place in the Brockagh Resource Centre from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

TIDY TOWNS

Laragh Tidy Towns monthly clean-up will take place on September 2. Meet opposite Lynhams at 11 a.m.

ART EXHIBITION

The Glendaloug­h: Art and Atmosphere free exhibition will be held in the Brockagh Resource Centre, Laragh from the August 19 to August 27, 9.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is a display of 18th and 19th century paintings and drawings of the Glendaloug­h Valley, capturing rarely seen aspects of the Valley’s heritage. This exhibition is a collaborat­ive venture with a number of agencies on the Glendaloug­h Heritage Forum, especially the Heritage Office of Wicklow County Council and the Heritage Council.

HAUNTED HALLOWEEN

Calling all little ghouls and spooks. Join us for our Horrifying Haunted Halloween House on Saturday, October 28, Jampacked with activities including Ghouling Games, Frightful Feasts, Alarming Art, Petrifying Prizes, Terrifying Treasure Hunt and a Death-Defying Disco, this Haunted House is sure to be the creepiest one around. BASKET-MAKING

This full day, traditiona­l basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environmen­t, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). The workshops will take place in the Brockagh Centre from 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. on September 17 and 23, October 7 and 21. Classes are small with five participan­ts. FITNESS DANCE

Just pop in on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre to dance your socks off with Adam and the class in cardio exercise dancing, dropping those extra calories. PILATES

Marie Noonan class will be back Monday the 18th, Sept. Marie is a qualified Pilate’s teacher and has been teaching for the last 17 years and works full time as a movement therapist for rehabilita­tion, health and longevity. ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Laragh Glendaloug­h Active Retirement Group are back after their summer break Tuesday, September 12, at 11 a.m.

Their Sunday tea dances were a great success last season and the next tea dance will take place on Sunday, November 19, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., all groups must book in advance with the centre. New members are always welcome, come along on a Tuesday morning to the Brockagh Centre from 11 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.

EVENING YOGA

Viva’s yoga classes are for beginners to advance will be returning on September 11, Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the Brockagh Centre. Wear comfortabl­e clothes on the night and bring a blanket. Mats are available on the night. You can contact Viva at 086 3409629 for more informatio­n.
