Local ICMSA elections to be held next week
THE new officers of Wicklow ICMSA will be elected at a meeting in Avoca next week.
The meeting, at 8.30 p.m. in the Woodenbridge Hotel on Monday next, October 16, will be addressed by John Comer, President of the Association.
In addition to the elections, a packed agenda will feature dairy and beef outlooks, CAP 2020 and any farm-related matters arising from the Budget.
Elections will be held for the positions of chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, national council member and delegates.
The meeting will be chaired by Shane O’Loughlin, Aughrim, with Brian Lawrence, Arklow, acting as secretary.

Sheep sale, Thursday, October 5:
This was a very large sale with 4,250 animals on offer. There was a strong trade price fully maintained strong demand for E/L.
Butcher and Factory Lambs €88-€104 or 44-52 over; Stores over 35kg €73-€84 or 35-50 over; Stores under 35kg €61-€75 or 30-45 over; Cull Ewes €65€105; Hog Ewes €120-€165; Older Breeding Ewes €88-€135; Breeding Rams €150-€600.
nCattle Sale, Saturday, October 7:
There were 750 cattle on offer and 50 calves. The sale saw improved trade with more customers prices up by €20/€30 per head.

Dry Cows: Store Cows €1 per kilo to 410 over; Beef Cows 350 - 840 over.

nSheep sale, Saturday, September 30:
There was a strong trade for breeding ewes and rams. There was a top price of €180 for Suffolk X hoggett ewes and €800 for cheviot ram.
Prices: 50-60 kgs made from €95-€112; 45-50 kgs made from €75-€104; Suffolk cross ewe Lambs made from €90-€130; Store lambs made from €50-€85; Cast ewes made from €35-€95; Breeding Cheviot Suffolk X Hoggett made from €130€180; 2,3 + 4 y.o made from €80-€135; Rams all breeds made from €150-€800.
