LIONS LAUNCH FESTIVE APPEAL

ARKLOW LIONS’ FUNDRAISING DRIVE AND LUNCH

- BY DEBORAH COLEMAN

THE Arklow and District Lions Christmas fundraising appeal commenced this week with the launch of their Lions Little Christmas Ladies Lunch in the Woodenbridge Hotel.

This very successful event is in its third year with a new and bigger venue to accommodate the ever increasing demand for tickets.

The combination of sparkling wine reception, lunch, dress-toimpress segment and live music has made the event a major hit with local ladies.

The Arklow Lions Club Little Christmas Ladies Lunch will take place in the beautiful setting of the Woodenbridge Hotel on Sunday, January 7 at 1 p.m.

‘We are calling on the women of Arklow to come celebrate Little Christmas with friends, sisters, mothers, grannys and aunts,’ said Arklow Lions Club president Imelda Riley.

‘We hope all local ladies will use this occasion to treat, pamper and help celebrate the Irish tradition that is Women’s Christmas.’

Tickets can be purchased at Abbey Flowers, Main street, Arklow or by calling Imelda on 087 2809171 or Carmel on 086 8284064.

Tickets for the famous Gallon of Whiskey prize draw in aid of St Colman’s Residential Care Centre will also be on sale around the town from this week forward. The winner will be announced in The Old Ship on December 19.

The Lions Club will also hold a bucket collection in Tesco on November 10 and 11 followed by collections in Dunnes Stores on December 1 and 2, and SuperValu on December 14, 15 and 16. All food and money collected will go to local St Vincent de Paul and Arklow Action Resource Centre.

The annual appeal is supported this year by the pupils of Glenart College who have provided much needed assistance.
