Ghosts and ghouls out in force for end of Halloween festival

-

PLANS are already under way for the second Arklow Halloween Spook-Tacular after the success of the inaugural event this year.

The highly-anticipated Hallowe’en festival was a roaring success with over 1,500 people attending the street parade, thriller dance-off and fireworks display.

The support of the people is what makes any festival successful and Arklow Municipal District is very proud of the support that the town has given to the Spook-Tacular.

It is hoped that this support will continue going forward and every effort will be made to make next year’s festival even more Spook-Tacular.

Arklow Municipal District has extended a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who participated in the town’s first Halloween festival over the bank holiday weekend.

This includes not only the local people and groups who were responsible for running the events and decorating the town, but also the members of the public who supported the festival by attending the events.

A special word of thanks has been extended to the businesses who donated spot prizes or sponsorship for the festival.

Cathaoirleach of Arklow Municipal District, Cllr Tommy Annesley, said: ‘There is a long tradition of Halloween in Arklow and it was great to see this being revived. It is hoped that the festival will grow in the coming years.’

‘A special word of thanks to Phil Cawley, Pat Power and Frances Ryan School of Dance. I would also like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment from the staff of Arklow Municipal District and also to thank the people of Arklow for supporting the events.’
