Fassaroe Park to see name changes

-

November 1985

BRAY’S LARGEST council estate at Fassaroe Park will soon become a thing of the past – in name at least.

Instead of plain old Fassaroe Park, the estate will in future rejoice in such colourful names as Copperbeach Grove, Ard Cualann, Ashlea Heights and Thornhill View.

In total, the estate is to be ‘broken up’ into 10 new addresses which were decided on by a committee of councillors following meetings with the residents.

The estate will be ‘baptised’ with its new names next March when attractive new signs are to be erected by Bray Urban Council.

The new names were announced at this week’s meeting of the Urban Council by Chairman Ciaran Murphy after several months of planning by officials, members and residents.

The development has been welcomed by residents of the sprawling estate and the meeting heard that there was great enthusiasm among local people for the name change.

The full list of new names is: Hazelwood, Ard Cualann, Ashlawn Court, Copperbeach Grove, Dargle Grove, Dargle Heights, Ashlea Heights, Rowan Grove, Ballyman Rise, Thornhill View and Old Connaught Grove.

Cllr Murphy said that there had been a lot of suggestions for new names but he felt that everyone would be happy with the final choice.
